State government is the second level of the three types of government. It oversees the entire state like Western Australia.
The federal government oversees the entire country and the local governments oversee the smaller areas that make up a state like your neighbourhood, suburbs, cities and towns.

What is the State Government?
The next level of Parliament is the state government which is made up of Australia's six states and two territories. State Parliament meet in the capital city of each state or territory. The state parliament look after issues and laws within their own state or territory such as hospitals, education, roads, railways, electricity, gas, water, agriculture and mining. The leader of each state government is called the Premier. The leader of each territory government is called the Chief Minister.
